Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Terminated 3 weeks after returning from Maternity Leave

I returned back to work for three weeks before being called into the office and told that they were elimating a position in my department and I was the one chosen to be terminated. They could not give me an exact reason why I was the one being let go. I have since seen job postings that they are hiring someone in the exact same position I was just terminated from. Is there a time frame that you are given once you return back from a FMLA?

Thanks for your help!

There are many questions that have to be answered such as whether you qualified for FMLA and whether or not they were justified in laying you off or whether it was just pretext for discrimination. Also there may be violations of the Pregancy Discrimination Act and/or Florida Civil Rights Act. Some of your legal resource has time restrictions so you should contact a lawyers that handles these types of matters ASAP. Feel free to call my office to discuss further. We handle these types of cases.

It does sound suspicious. I would be willing to discuss with you in more detail. It may be that you suffered discrimination as a result of your pregnancy.
