Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Florida

Hospital Billing.

I recently sent a check and letter of intent to my hospital stating I would pay $50.00 a month towards my bill until it was paid in full. They have accepted two payments, and cashed two of my checks. I then received a call today stating that they cannot accept anything less then $178.00 a month, stretching my payment out for a year. This is financially impossible for me, which I explained to the woman, and was explained when I sent the first check. When I asked what would happen if I simply could not afford this payment, I was told she would immediatly send me to collections, ruining the credit that I have worked so hard to establish recently. What can I do about this? Since they have accepted two checks thus far, doesn't that mean I have attempted to make payment, and they have accepted the agreement? Help!

Re: Hospital Billing.

No -- there is no agreement. I would continue to make payments that you can afford. Sens a letter again explaining that you are sending what you can afford If the hospiutal sends the bills to collections it costs them money, so -- if they see you are continueing to pay -- even if it is less than they want, they may not do it.

It may help to go in and meet face to face with the Hospital accounts receivable people.
