Auto repair price change

I go to a repair shop get a verbal price quote of $500 to replace an engine. shop owner calls me back and says it will be $650 because of extra parts needed. He calls me back in a few days to say the vehicle is ready for pick up and the total bill is $1100. What is my recourse?

Re: Auto repair price change

You owe him $1100. If you wanted to lock in a price, you needed to do that with a written contract.
