Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Moving in with partner, minor child

I have custody of my daughter. My divorce decree states - No guests of the opposite sex are allowed overnight while the child is at home. I agree. However, I am in a long term, comitted relationship and would like to move in with my partner. Neither of us wants to be forced into getting married so we can live together. Would living together be considered a violation of the decree? Because no one in the household would be a ''guest'', I don't think it is a violation. My ex disagrees. What would the court most likely say? Thank you!

Re: Moving in with partner, minor child

If you want to risk losing custody of your child, go ahead and violate the judge's order. Judges take their orders seriously and you would almost certainly have a problem with most courts. If you want a commited relationship, there is a vehicle for that which will not upset judges. It is called marriage. If marriage is not what you want, then don't let your lover move in until you do.
