valutarily giving up parental rights

my X wants 2 give up his rights as a parent.Is it possible to do the papeer work myself (ie Type a letter stating such and have it signed by both of us & witnessed twice, then notorised) therefore making it legal without involving attorneys and court cost?

It is a little more complicated than just a letter. The adoption code specifies what is requred for the surrender of parental rights. Included there must be a statement form some attorney who has advided him of his rights and made sure he understood tahtse rights. Once he has executed the documents, he has ten days to withdraw his termination in writing.

The real catch, is that surrender must be attached to an adoption.
