Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Back child support

I never received any child support for my son. I wa divorced when my son was 3 years old. My x was to pay $50.00 per week and his medical insurance. I received nothing. I raised my son by myself. Now my son is 30 years old and my x is to inherit his mothers home when she passes and I was wondering if now after so long I can get my money for the back support that I never received???

Re: Back child support

Hello. My answer is yes. I would file a petition for rule to show cause against dad for

his failure to pay child support as ordered. Now

the court may decide not to hear your motion, but

I would appeal such a decision if the court ruled in this fashion. The issue is whether

dad is in contempt of court. My answer is yes

because he disobeyed this order. The court just

never found out about it. Will be happy to

discuss this with you further. From your facts

I have determined that dad owes you about $35,000. Certainly this is an amount that you

are entitled to.
