Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Power of Attorney

I need to establish a power of attorney to handle my mother's financial affairs. She is elderly & in a nursing home. Do I need an attorney, or can I do it myself[ Forms off the internet?]If so, what is the procedure? There isn't much money or property-- most will be taken by Medicaid. If we need an attorney, any recomendations in my area[Danville]? Thank you-

Re: Power of Attorney

A local attorney shouldn't charge too much for a GPOA. I urge you to talk to one as soon as possible.

Re: Power of Attorney

The question is whether your mother is competent. If so, a POA woudl be fine and you should be able to find forms for financial and medical. However, if she is not competent, you will need to hire an attorney for guardianship.

However, be cautious, if you are unsure once you look at the forms, then hire an attorney.
