Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

old bill

I have an old bill from heilig-meyer dating from 2000. They are calling every day now wanting there money and not willing to take payments. What is the statue of limitations or can they refuse a payment?

Statutes of limitation only apply if you are sued. Even then they are not a bar to suit but only an affirmative defense. Put another way, the timespan does not mean they cannot try to collect the debt.
