Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

how to go about suing for money owed

my ex-fiance owes me about $2000. he stole my half of our rent money twice which was about $700 something. because of that we were geting eviction notices and i trusted him to take care of it, since i thought we had paid. he stole the money by picking fights with me when the money was due and me being a naive person gave him the money and left becuase i was mad. i found out only when he told me we were going to move because we kept getting those notices. the day of moving he wasn't there because he broke up with me and when i went to turn in my key, the lady at the office told me what really happened and that he set up a payment plan. he disappered and i was forced to pay $200 a month til all the back rent was paid since the lease was in my name mainly. i have some paperwork but only a verbal agreement that he would pay me back monthly what i was owed. this story has more to it but i am running out of space. what can i do since he has disappeared off the planet to get my money back? is it worth it?

Re: how to go about suing for money owed

You can go to small claims court. You will need to find him so that he can be served with notice of the suit.
