Legal Question in Medical Leave in Indiana

Intermitten Leave?

I know an employee can take intermittent FMLA leave due to complications to pregnancy. However, does the employer have to allow intermittent leave for an employee's illness other than pregnancy? For instance, to go to several doctor's appoinments for a condition that may or may not be a serious illness.
