Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Indiana

Do I have to keep paying rent on a years lease if I was kicked out by my partner/roommate? The lease started on 11/01/09 and I was kicked out on 11/20/09. I contacted the landlord on the 20th and told him everything that was going on, and that I would send him a letter, my keys, and my portion of Dec rent, but that I would no longer be living there. He told me over the phone that if she was to stay there, I could be off the lease. My name is not off the lease. What are my legal rights/options?

Thanks so much for your time!

Yes, you have to keep paying rent until you receive a written release of obligation from the landlord. Your roomate has no right to kick you out. You have an equal right to the premises. Your disagreement with your roomate does not effect your contract with the landlord.
