Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Indiana

I am writing for my sister who is grieving the loss of her daughter through medical malpractice. On March 9th her 36 year old daughter went to a hospital in Indianapolis with problems breathing and body pain. She was told she had flu, and sent home. On March 13th she had to be taken back to the hospital by ambulance, and they found she had double pneumonia and strep throat. The infection from the untreated strep got into her blood, and by March 14th she was dead.

I know there is a legitimate lawsuit, as her 22 year old granddaughter filed a suit with an attorney in Indianapolis for malpractice. Her granddaughter, out of greed, has not allowed anyone else to be a party to the lawsuit. Is it legal for her to deny her grandmother and other siblings access to the lawsuit? Another attorney will not get involved in helping my sister file a suit now, and she needs some direction to file her own lawsuit or at the very least be a party to the one her granddaughter has already filed.

Is there anything she can do legally about this situation?

Her claim would depend on whether your sister was dependent on her daughter. If so, she can

intervene.
