how long should it take to get a settlement from the death of mother and father

there are 2 issues: 1) if this involves the wrongful death of your mom and dad due to the misconduct of another, a lawsuit may be required and it could take several years. 2)if your mom and dad died unrelated to a wrongful death case, their assets (the estate) may or may not need to be probated depending on how those assets were owned at the time of the last death. if there is probate, it could take a while to collect the assets, file the appropriate documents, file the indiana inheritance tax form and get approvals before distribution can be made. i realize this is a general answer but without specifics it is difficult to be specific. hope this helps.

the key and most important thing is to avoid probate and it is relatively easy to do with proper estate planning.
