Legal Question in Insurance Law in Iowa

Car Insurance Responsibilities

My daughter was burnt in an accident at her grandfather's house. Her cousin removed a cannister of gunpowder from the back of a trailer, that was attached to a truck, parked in the driveway. Then, he filled a hole, ignited it and it exploded on my daughter.

My question is: Can the Grandfather's car insurance be held liable??? It has already been determined that he was negligent in the disposal of the gunpowder.

Re: Car Insurance Responsibilities

Although I practice law in South Florida and not in IA I doubt the vehicle insurance would cover this accident since it did not arise out of the use of a vehicle. If the grtandfather knew what was going on his home owners insurance may cover this. Good luck.

Re: Car Insurance Responsibilities

It might cover the incident or the homeowners insurance for the grandfather or yourself may provide some coverage. Hard to say one way or the other without knowing more. Do you have an atty?
