Two years ago my boyfriend decided that our 2 month old wasnt his and He kicked us out of his house. Now the state is going after him for Child support and he has sent me messages stating that he contimplates suicide and is a alcoholic and part time drugy and does not want her in his life I need to know how to go about getting his rights taken? since he is not contesting and wants to sign them over? the only problem is that he doesnt want to pay childsupport

Terminating the rights of a parent also terminates their responsibilities - which means no rights; no child support. He can voluntarily consent to relinquishe his parental rights or there is a statute that spells out what it requires to involuntarily terminate a parents rights. Either way, it still comes down to a judge finding that it is in the best interest of the child for rights to be terminated.

Even if he signs a consent for his rights to be terminated, it is unlikely that a judge will grant this termination unless there is an adoptive parent (like a stepparent) waiting in the wings to step into his role. This is because at least he can order the dad to provide for the child financially, if not emotionally.
