Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Come and Go live ins

What are the laws of LA regarding live in boyfriends/girlfriends? I live in MS and if protested then no unmarried couple may live together with minor children in the same residence.

Re: Come and Go live ins

I know of no law forbidding an unmarried couple from living together. If there is one it is obscure and regularly ignored.

Courts have placed in child custody orders rules stating that the child(ren) shall not stay with unmarried couples and have used the living arrangements of the parents to determine who gets custody or domiciliary status.

If you move to Louisiana hoping for friendlier laws, remember that at least for a while Mississippi retains jurisdiction. Also an existing Mississippi order remains in effect in all 50 states until properly superseded.
