Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Louisiana

juvenile accessory to shoplifting in LA.

My 13 yr. old son and his 14 year old friend were at the Bass Pro shop when my sons friend lifted a $30 wallet. When taken to the managers office for questioning my son stated he had some knowledge of the theft but was not directly involved. Both boys were issued a citation for theft of goods and possession of tobacco. What are the fines/penalties for first time offense for an accessory in Bossier City, LA? Do we need an attorney for our son?

Re: juvenile accessory to shoplifting in LA.

If you want a lawyer for your son, get one who knows your local juvenile justice system.

Juvenile penalties are not the same as adult penalties. Juvenile courts are generally more interested in reform and rehabilitation than punishment. Best wishes to you and your family.
