Legal Question in Social Security Law in Louisiana

Orginazations asking for Social Security Numbers

I am a member of a CYO and was told that my Social Security Number was needed to re insure me for the upcoming year. When I refused to give my social security number they told me that if I did not give the number I could no longer be a member. Can they actually make me give my social security number to be a member or would this be discrimination because they are requiring a social security number to be a member.

Thanks,

Justin

Re: Orginazations asking for Social Security Numbers

Why didn't they need your SS NO. last year? If they are RE-insuring you, that meant you were insured last year without using the SS NO. So, I would question them about that, and see if the rules of the insurance company have changed. It may be that they are having trouble with fraud somehow using just names, or with illegal aliens. I do not know, but they do, so ask.
