Legal Question in Workers Comp in Maryland

Background checks for employment

Dear Sirs, My future employer is doing a Workmans Comp. background check on me ,I am 47 yrs. old and have been in a probuction setting for close to 30 yrs. now, I collected comp. twice, once in 1974 and 1985. Is there a statute of limitations on comp. cases?,and if not, in your opinion do these incidents seem excessive? Thank You,

The "statute of limitations" in the worker's compensation law is that if five years have passed since you last received benefits under a comp order, you can't reopen the case. Since your cases were a long time ago, I assume the prospective employer wants to know if you're likely to reinjure an area which will put it on the hook for benefits. This seems unfair on face value, but probably nothing you can do about it.
