Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

relocated out of state

I left a Mass state job and relocated to Virginia d/t having to assist in caring for my grandchildren while my son has to leave for Florida for 2+ yearsper NAVY orders. I gave a two week notice to my employer and they were aware of the reason. I applied for unemployment and am denied due to the fact that I relocated and quit. I understand the law but it wasnt like I relocated to the next town or stayed in Massachusetts. Is there any other law to support my claim for eligibility?

Also, one of the requirements to be eligible for unemployment is that you are available for work. If you are out of state, you are not considered to be available.

Additionally, you may be eligible for Family Medical Leave Act protection, but it is only unpaid leave and there must be at least 50 employees.

Your claim for unemployment benefits will be challenged if you quit your employment or were fired.
