Child support

If the mother has sole legal custody. But the father has the child over night 142 days a year will it make a difference in child suppor payments whether she has sole custody or we have shared custody?

If the father has the child 142 nights a year, that comes within the shared economic responsibility formula and will reduce the mother's child support, even if she has sole physical custody. However, the father can agree to pay pursuant to the regular formula and not take into account the shared economic responsibility. William S. Stern
