Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Distraught Family

Hi my name is Carolyn Robertson. My niece is 21 yrs old and is trying to get custody of her 1yr old son. One problem is that her husband has her down as an unfit mother, and is using her illness against her. She is HIV positive. The other problem is that her husband was ordered by the courts to go to a drug rehab, and now I think that her son is in the system. What can we (her family) do to help her and/or what does she need to do to get her son and keep the one that she is pregnant with?

Re: Distraught Family

First and foremost, your niece should hire an attorney to represent her to protect her rights. From the brief detail you've provided, it sounds like her situation is very complicated. I would be happy to sit down and discuss her options. I offer free consultations. If she would like to discuss this in further detail, have her call me at 586-979-7302 to set up a free consultation.
