Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

I work with a human service ministry and I have been asked for advice from a woman who fell at a restaurant because her waitress had moved her chair and this woman did not realize that. She broke her neck in 4 places when she fell. This was 9 months ago and her dr. said her neck is still not healed so she cannot drive. She wears a neck brace. This lady is not well and is on disability already and does not want a lawyer because she wants a settlement soon and does not want to wait a year plus. She has talked to the restaurant and they are willing to settle out of court but they asked her to provide them with a dollar amount that she would settle for. She has many medical bills from this accident that are already in collection because she cannot afford to pay for them and she wants the settlement money this month. The only problem is coming up with an amount. I know there are limitations on specific kinds of accidents so that is what I am asking for. I would really appreciate if you would provide me with a range. We realize she could have more problems with this in the future and we need to take that into consideration. Thank you very much! I will look forward to hearing from you.

Nobody can accurately evaluate a case with so few details. She has significant injury and damages. An experienced, aggressive attorney is appropriate in her case. Trying to do her own legal work is like trying to do her own medical treatment. Just plain silly!

She will have to pay the medical bills or repay her insurer, so talk of a settlement is very tricky. I would be happy to discss this with you. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to get started. Tim Klisz
