In most listing agreements, the seller agrees to pay a commission which is to be split between the seller's agent and the buyer's agent. Furthermore, the offer to purchase may have been contingent upon you agreeing to pay the buyer's agent's commission. Check your documents carefully.

On the other hand, buyers do sign agency agreements promising to pay a commission to the buyer should the seller not agree to pay.
