Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

?can my son's debt be transfered to me?

My son incurred an un-insured medical debt. He is 21 and is without a a job or measurable assets, and now has an injured domanant hand. I made some of his payments on his medical debt, and now the medical institution is saying that I'm responsible for the balance (more than $17,000) rather than him. Is this legal or are they trying to bluff me into paying them because I have assets?

Re: ?can my son's debt be transfered to me?

How old was he when the debt was incurred?

No insurance available?

I would need to see hospital admission documents and get more info to advise.

WHat is balance due?
