Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Marital Debt

Marital debt is to be divided 50/50 according to my divirce decree. I have $14,000.00 I'm paying on, ex-wife has $5,000.00. She owes me $4,500.00 for her part of the debt.

How do I get her to pay me?

Re: Marital Debt

If your divorce decree did not include a process for paying those debts, you are in a difficult circumstance. That is a significant oversight.

You would have to file suit in Conciliation court and seek a Judgement for the amount owed. At that point you would be able to avail yourself of judgement remedies for garnishment.
