Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota

My dad passed away in 2018-he was in my life but not on my birth certificate. I am trying to claim his pension, however, they want a certified copy of a court order establishing paternity or an amended birth certificate. I did have a legal DNA test with his brother confirming I am his daughter already but they want more. How difficult is this to do and what is the process?

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your dad. Do you have people who will testify they have personal knowledge you are his biological daughter? Will your uncle testify? DNA is probably not going to be enough. Yes you have to file a Petition and ask the court to make this declaration. It is difficult, but not impossible.

Good luck.
