Hurt on the job- burned

Hi

I was injured on the job last Sept. I recieved a steam burn on my forearm, I was treated in the EM room for 1st & 2nd degree burns. I was seen by the dr for over a week, also in the ER again for infection. Right after this happened at work- a co-worker told me the steamer had been repaired, leaving the steamer hotter than it had been when I had used it before. My blisters on my arm were HUGE !!!

My burn was from my wrist almost to my elbow, I have serveral people ask me if it's a bruise ( am sure they think I am being abused ) it is sensitive to hot and cold, I thought both the coloring and sensitivity would go away - but it hasn't..

can I be compenstated for this ?

Thank you so much for your reply !

Typically, injured workers are limited to what they can get in the workers compensation system which include wage loss, 100% of medical bills, and a variety of other benefits, but not pain and suffering. If the individual who repaired the equipment was from a different company other than your employer and there was negligence that caused your injury, potentially there could be liability for pain and suffering.
