Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Mississippi

Who Owns the House?

I am buying a house, lady who lives in the house now states she owns it. The person I am buying from states she owns it and has the deed. The lady states that since she's lived there 30 years she has possession of it so she owns it. She also stated something about having squatters rights. The person we are buying from has paid the taxes on it for years and the deed is in her name? Who owns it?

Re: Who Owns the House?

This is a problem for the seller. Resident is probably claiming "adverse possession" of the property. Buyer must insist on seller solving this problem which will require court action at sellers expense.
