Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New Hampshire

Chapter 11 & Death before repayment

I am a 38 yr old woman that was in a car accident at the age of 19. I received a large settlement and loaned 15,000 to my brother in which he wrote off on Chapter 7 bankruptcy a few yrs later. Some time later, I loaned him close to 30,000 and a fews years afterwards he filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. After that time I chose not to speak to him any longer. I did not know that Chapter 11 was repayable. Sept 30,2003 my brother died and his estate is valued to date is around 400,000. My question is, ''Is there anyway that I can be repaid any or all of the money that I have loaned my brother from his estate?''

The short answer is you may be able to recover something but it will depend upon proof of your claim and whether his estate has assets sufficient to cover unsecured debts. You really should talk to a lawyer.
