Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Hampshire

Hospital / Lein on House

Lakes Region Gener Hospital is a Community Hospital that I owed a bill to but was unable to pay. They sent the bill to collections. I had to go to court and told them I was unable to pay. This was in 1999. This year I tryed to refinance my home and found that there was a lein on my house. The lein is by LRGH but when I talked to them they have no record of this ever going to court never mind a lein. What can I do? and Could the collection agency have put the lein on my house. Why wasn't I ever notified? Should I have been?

Re: Hospital / Lein on House

The original lawsuit probably had a request for a pre-judgment attachment which would be the lien. If so, the only way you can get the lien off is to have Lakes refion sign a discharge and record it in the Registry of Deeds.
