Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

Contract with employer

I worked at a company and was terminated. I signed an agreement that I would not work for them again ( this was 5 years ago). I have an opportunity to work with them at a different location but through a temp agency. What are the legalities?

Re: Contract with employer

The legalities will depend on what it says in the agreement that you signed.

You should have a lawyer look at the agreement and explain it to you. It should not cost more than $100 or maybe $200.

Re: Contract with employer

Understand that I have not reviewed any of your agreement. However, you likely signed a severance package, or some document that gave you some kind of benefit in return for your agreement not to seek employment with them again. And, that same agreement probably provides that you have to pay them back if you violate this agreement. My instinct--again, without reading a thing--would tell me that this would not be worth whatever you would earn at a temp position.
