Recieved subponea to be a witness, currently under psychiatrist care

I recently recieved a subponea to testify in a town court civil trial as a witness in regards to a simple assault charge. I am currently under the care of a psychiatrist for severe anxiety and have been on disability from work for more than a month for that very reason.

I feel that having to testify could trigger a severe panic attack and have been worried about it constantly.

Since I have an actual medical condition is there any way to testify in an alternate manner? (i.e. written statement) or have the court dismiss me as a witness?

You should call the court that issued the subpoena and explain to the court clerk about your medical condition. They will be able to tell you if there is an alternative way to testify, or if they even need you to testify at all. Good luck.
