Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

emancipation

My son is 18, he lives with his mother we have joint custody. He is no longer in college and his mother kicked him out of the house today. He came by me today and he is going to move in with my brother. Can Ihave her pay child support or can I have him emancipated.

Re: emancipation

Yeah, its time to get him emancipated. You could probably do this by yourself but since this seems rather cut and dry, you may want to get an attorney to help you as it shouldn't be very expensive.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

Re: emancipation

It sounds like he should be emancipated. However, without a written consent from you ex-wife, you will need to file a motion with the Court. If you want an attorney to do it, we can help you. Please call for an appointment.
