Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

I have a question about slander. I am an educator and one of the teachers in my building is defaming my character by telling teachers that I had an affair (I am married) and that I left my husband. This is not true at all and I never said anything to make this a belief. I am leaving for a new position so I can not go to my union. Should I pay an attorney to write her a letter since these lies can affect my personal and professional life?

That is really nasty, and can have lingering poisonous effects on you. Sorry to hear it.

Yes, a strong letter from an attorney may be effective to shut that person up from saying this. Why don't you call me, make an appointment, and talk it over. A letter from a lawyer is not expensive, and may cause the person to think again. And we could talk over what other options you have.

Give me a call, make an appointment to come see me, and let's get moving on this for you.
