Is it legal to stream your own copy or a rental copy of a movie online on a chat/blog site?

Streaming your copy of a copyrighted work is unlawful. The music and video publishing industry has an active effort to prosecute copyright infringers. Even accidental infringers have been caught in that net. What you propose is far from accidental. According the the most recent informaiton that I have, the average settlement with individuals who caually shared music files on relatively well-known sites was $8000 prior to suit.
