Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Is it normal to sign a malpractice wavier in a personal injury case when I change from one law firm to another? The first firm eliminated it's PI practice and left me with no representation. The firm taking the case on wants me to sign a malpractice waiver to protect themselves. Thank you.
