Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Bogus Tickets

I got a call at home from a police office asking me if I was in a certain town. I said, ''no''. He informed me that my car (via the plate) was involved in a car accident & I left the scene. I told him I was never in that town. He calls back 2 hours later and wants me to bring my car there so they can look at it for damage. I didn't even know where this town was. It was late. I had company, so I could not go. I told him to come where I was so he could examine my car. He refused stating that I had to prove I was innocent. Now I get 3 tickets in the mail, ''failure to report an accident'', '' leaving the scene of an accident'' and ''uninsured''. First off, I was never in this town. Where the uninsured thing came from I have no idea. I always pay my car insurance. I have to appear in court. Do I need to worry?

I have read what the other attorneys have written, and they are correct.

Hire an attorney, and do that well ahead of the trial date for the tickets. You have real and serious problems here.

Re: Bogus Tickets

When you have a matter in Court it would be unwise to fail to take it seriously. You should hire an attorney because one of the charge is serious. The charge of leaving the scene of an accident has penalties of possible jail and the mandatory six month loss of driving privileges.

Call me if you like.

Re: Bogus Tickets

This is a very real problem. You should definitely retain a private attorney to argue your defense in court, because the potential fines and jail time are very real. Feel free to call our offices. We don't charge for initial consultations, and we will either help you or help you find an attorney.

Re: Bogus Tickets

You are facing heavy fines, loss of your license, and possibly even some jail time. If you are convicted of leaving the scene of an accident there is a mandatory loss of your license. The police have to prove the case against you, not the other way around, but still you have to be able to show the court that their proof is flawed. I think you should hire an attorney. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts in NJ in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
