Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

I am going into the military and need a power of attorney. How much do they cost? What steps should I take to get one?

Ask the JAG where you are stationed. The JAG office will either assist you in preparing the necessary documents [you get a Health Care Power of Attorney and a Will at the same time]. If the JAG does not provide that service, it should be able to direct you to volunteer attorneys in the community - just about every state has such volunteers, who will provide you with necessary help.

This response is not legal advice, since I do not have all of the information that would be required, and I do not have a representation agreement with you.

* If the answers to your question confirm that you have a valid issue or worthwhile claim, your next step should almost always be to establish a dialog with a lawyer who can provide specific advice to you. Contact a lawyer in your county or township.

* Another reason for contacting a lawyer is that it is often impossible to give a good answer in the Internet Q&A format without having more information. The unique circumstances of your situation and things that you may not have thought to mention in your question may completely change the answer. If you want to be sure that you have a complete answer to your question and an understanding of what that answer means, establish a connection with a lawyer who practices in the area of your concern.

The Army JAG should take care of you. If you want me to do it, I will be happy to help you, I have done a power of attorney and also done Wills for two clients who were stationed to Iraq (they are both back safe). However, JAG should do it for you for no fee.

let me know if I can help you,

After posting my answer, I checked with a PA Military Assist group, who suggested that you check the NJ website for Military Affairs?

http://www.njsba.com/committees_sections/sites/index.cfm?site=132&parturl;=/committees_sections/sites/index.cfm?site=132

It lists the Committee's contacts, who would be able to direct you to lawyers who are providing these services for little or no fee.
