Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Judgement

I have a judgement against me from a hospitalization 10 years ago and my assets have been frozen. What are my chances of making a settlement for less than the judgement amount? (half of the amount is interest). Will I have to pay the entire amount because there is a judgement? I would like to pay one lump sum. Secondly, after I have paid the entire agreed amount, how soon will my accounts be released and liens (if any) be removed?

Thank you for your time.

Re: Judgement

at this point you have noleverage. Move in the Court (City Court New Rochelle?)to vacate the judgment and release all restraints. If granted, start again. You can try to do this or get an attorney.

Good Luck.

Re: Judgement

It would be very difficult for you to work out a settlement at this point especially without an attorney. You can file an Order to Show cause to vacate the judgment which would put you in a much better position to work somethimg out. This area of law is our specialty, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. You are welcome to contact us for a free consultation.
