Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Three days of required Training...unpaid?

My sister recently was hired by Vector Marketing to sell Cutco Knives. They require her to purchase the knives that she has been told to demo, and also require around 20 hours of unpaid training. If something is required by the Employer - the knives and her time - is the Employer legally required to pay for it?

Yes and there is nothing unlawful about this job requirement. Your sister must decide whether the terms given to her by this employer is something that is acceptable and whether she can negotiate a better deal.
