Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Harrassment and intimidation at workplace

I am being harrassed and intimidated by one of the Senior sales persons at my work. I am a emplyee of only two months and this senior Account Executive has suddenly taken to calling me names and poking fun at me. Being the new guy I on the block I took this intimidation for a couple of weeks. It is getting me a little upset and I would like to put this guy in his place but I am afraind that if I do that than he could have me fired or retaliate to even a greater extent. Do I have any legal recourse? How whould I handle this? Inform my supervior?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: Harrassment and intimidation at workplace

You generally have to show a pattern of discrimination in the work place. If you can allege (and prove) racial, age, gender or sex discrimination, you may have a case. If, after complaining, your employer fails to take remedial steps and/or does retaliate, you may also have a case. In order to fully understand the issues, you should consult a qualified attorney in the employment area.
