Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

My daughter got a ticket for driving 107 in a 70mph zone, got it reduced to 101. License revoked for one year (nothing else on record, 1st offense, she is 20 yrs old). Will apply for limited but was thinking of trying to request a hearing for re-instatement mostly because she does Rover dog sitting on weekends and the schedule varies and it is her main source of income. Big fat chance and waste of time? Just go with applying for limited use license instead? We are in Wake Cty, NC

The hearing route may not net any results. I do not currently do DMV hearings and have not done one in quite some time. I do know that the reduction to 101 mph was really meaningless in terms of her license as the speed was still sufficient to suspend her license for one year regardless of her driving record. The statute is quite clear. I would contact an attorney who does DMV hearings to see if they really think there is a chance for a reinstatement but I doubt that would be the case. More than likely the limiting driving privilege will be the best (or only viable) option. Good luck.
