Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

8 years ago my exhusband tried to kill me and went to prison for 7 years. When we got divorced and was due to extreme cruelty and at that time he lost any right to my children, until the court says otherwise. My kids were 6 and 3 at the time. He is now out of prison and on Parole for 5 years. He has to stay in Columbus and not allowed to live by me, and also has a no contact order for me and my children. I just found out he now wants visitations and is starting to do up paperwork. He contacted my mother hoping we would make it easy for him. I am a victim of this crime he committed in which he went to prison for. I am also worried for my children because I do not know what this man is capable of. How easy is it going to be for him to get visitation? And how hard will it be for me to fight this?

It sounds as though at the moment a personal restraining order is in place as a condition of probation or release. I suggest you notify the local police of your concern. If he is filing a motion with the court to lift the restraining order, you can object to that. He should file that motion in the court that sentenced him. Contact the prosecutor who handled this case about your concern, also the victim's advocate for that court. Good luck.
