Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Seperated but not divorced

I have a friend that was married when she was 16. She has been seperated for 4 years. There has been no communication from the husband during this time. Is there a way to file for divorce without having to track down the husband to sign paperwork. Locating him could become quite costly as he has no living relatives in the area and no mutual friends that he has been in contact with. What would be the best way to proceed with this situation ?

Service by publication is an option. This is not that uncommon of a situation. The divorce is obtainable as long as certain due process requirements are met.

You will need to serve him by publication. In other words you will have to place an advertisment in a newspaper of gerneral circulation of your desire to obtain a divorce. It would be a good idea to contact counsel in order to do it properly.
