My dad died in the state of ohio without leaing a will. My stepmother is in a nursing home. He had property as well as stocks and bonds. I did not get anything. I was told that I should get something.

Dose the law provide for me to receive something?

The answer to your question depends on how the property your father owned was titled. If he held things as joint with right of surviorship with your stepmother then she would be entitled to that property. If he had any property that was just in his name alone then you may be entitled to a share of the property under the Ohio intestacy laws.

This answer is intended as general information and is not legal advice. I would suggest that you contact an attorney who handles probate matters to analyze all the facts of your situation.
