bogus debt?

I recently received a phone call (on my unlisted phone #) from Asset Acceptance LLC regarding a credit card debt they claimed I owed in Okla. back in 1985 from New York & Company. I don't recognize the debtor. I now live in Texas. I have good credit and don't want this to hurt my credit. They claimed to have sent me several letters which I never received. Is this bogus? What is the statute of limitations?

tell them to put it in writing..then take it to a a lawyer who handles unfair debt collections..from both the collection agencies and the creditor..

and check your credit report
