Legal Question in Insurance Law in Pennsylvania

Insurance Claim

Dear Mr. Cevallo or Wong,

My wife passed away last month at an early age. She had an insurance pollicy through the State of Pa. The policy stated that her ex-husband and two children were bennificiarys.

However, prior to her death, she requested a change of bennificiary form from the insurance company, filled out the form, had it witnessed as required and mailed the form regular mail to the insurance company appointing me the benneficiary.

My wife all of he sudden got very ill of natural causes and died at the hospital apprx. ten days later. I contacted the insurance company several days later to see if they received the change form and they said they did receive it but will not honor the form as they did not recieve it on time.

I am confused as to any time limits in this case as there were no indications that there was any.

I have the insurance commission investigating my cliam and no claims have been paid as of yet.

My question is: Are there any laws pertaining to this particular case?

Re: Insurance Claim

Your question will be governed by PA law, not florida. There are almost certainly laws or regulations that govern this and you should seek PA counsel.
