Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

My brother is suing me for a car accident. He states it was recklessness. He keeps telling me not to get a lawyer because he is suing my insurance company, not me personally. The papers came and it only has my name on it and my partner that drove the car. I was not there-I am the owner of the car. What does this really mean? Should I get a lawyer-pay money to fight it?

Get a copy of the legal papers to your insurance agent or insurance company ASAP. If you do it by mail, rather than in person, send it certified mail so you get the green card back as proof that the papers were receive. The insurance company will retain and pay for an attorney to defend you. If you do not notify the insurance company, it will disclaim coverage and you will be on the hook personally. Do not take legal advice from the person who is suing you, particularly when he does not know what he is talking about.
