Legal Question in Consumer Law in Rhode Island

federal tax lien - family / consumer law rights

I recently pulled my 3 in 1 credit report and noticed that I have a federal tax lein against me. I don't own any property, and I don't owe taxes. However I do have an arrearage on my child support, but I don't think that is legal? I understand that I have to settle my arrearage with the state concerning back child support. Which I am actively working towards settling, because I love my kids. But, this federal tax lien was a complete surprise to me and what can I do legaly to fight this?? It is affecting my ability to keep and maintain work as a Computer Administrator. I am stuck, hurt, and confused what can I do?

I would call the IRS and see what is up. I would also maybe go to the free credit reports and see if you can get any more information. Is there an account number, is the amount close to the child support arrears.

Have you gotten a tax refund. Let's say you got a tax refund for 2008, you know it is not the IRS.

If you would like to make an appointment, you can email me. This is something that I have handled in the past with success.
